baby days

Today was...
... a mixed bag. Dandoo hasn't had the most exiting of days - he mostly slept and grew bigger. Mummy got very happy by sorting out some of her (pre-pregnancy) smaller clothes and bagging up the maternity ones which don't fit any more.
Baby Andrew had a BIG cry earlier - which upset both his mum and dad. He was really uncomfortable for about an hour, and we had real tears for the first time in a few days. Eventually we got him calmed down - a little too calm as when his Auntie Suzie arrived he was on the comatose side of excited.
I suspect he's not going to be a big brother fan.
The only other happening of note was that his Grandpa nearly missed his flight from Paris today due to being stuck in traffic on the outskirts of the city. Flo was very self satisfied - if she's less than three hours early for a flight she panics and calls ahead.
As it happens, he made the flight with seconds to spare, so he'll be visiting us tomorrow after seing his new house, and inspecting our Andywork (geddit?!?!!).
That was the best night yet!
Well now - after getting his last feed at 9pm last night, baby didn't wake up and want more until 5am this morning! After that he slept through until 9am when mummy - who'd gone to bed at 9 with him, very charitably got up with him and let daddy have a lie-in.
Daddy can't work out if we have the easiest baby on earth, or if he's lulling us into a false sense of security.
What does seem to be happening is that he's putting on weight. He's chubbing up quite nicely - to the extent that he may be going up a size in clothes.
Speaking of which, mummy v v happy at the moment- she was wearing a pair of size 10 trousers yesterday and for a change the grin was the widest part of her.

Exploring again
Today we went shopping with Mummy and Grandma. Dandoo wanted to buy lots of things, but he's only had a week to acumulate pocket money, so he couldn't buy much. The grown-ups got an ice-cream though, which cooled everyone down.
Baby slept most of the trip, but dad carried him around boots and mothercare and that woke him up.
Mummy seemed a lot happier about breastfeeding today - it's generally geting easier as the days go on - not quite so much toe-curling at the beginning of the feed and none after.
Tomorrow Grandma goes back to scotland for the night, and Auntie Suzie comes to visit instead. Daddy reckons he'd have made a fortune from a turnstile on the front door.
Later that night...
He's still sleeping like a trooper, but who wouldn't - he was tired out from watching the champions league final and holding daddy's lager!
Yesterday we went...
to Lorraine's work where we saw the children she looks after. Definition of the word BEDLAM.
The children all got to hold the baby and Alexnder did his new trick of making fart noises with his armpit. Ah the joys of six year old boys. I'm looking forward to it.

Grandma Arrives
Despite technical difficulties with the broomstick that stranded her in Charles De Gaulle for a few hours, Irene's round-britain trip finally came to a close this afternoon.
This is the first time she's seen her first Grandson, so we got him dressed specially in his new sailor outfit for the visit. It's obviously very important to make a first impression on these sort of occasions.
Grandma was suitably impressed. Phew.
An organised morning
One sleepy-headed baby is still asleep, meaning mummy and daddy have had time to get organised, have breakfast, get showered and mummy's currently hanging up washing.
A Good Night
Well, torturing works, then.
Dandoo had an extra-big sleep 'till 12.30, then another 'till 4.30, then another 'till 8.00
Daddy loves him again today. Mummy's loving him better too - once an hour was getting too sore!
So everyone's feeling much better this morning, and happiness descends on Glossop.

A mixed evening
Drew has had an unsettled evening, as children often do once they've expanded their horizons and seen some of the world.
He fed every hour tonight, and was vocal when not feeding. He also set a new personal best by filling 3 nappies in 10 mins. I thought for a minute he was a member of parliament, there was so much coming out of him.
Both Mum and Dad are a bit tired tonight so we've tortured him into doing an extra long feed and we're hoping that it gives us a few hours grace.
So mum's gone to bed, and dad's tidying the house and doing the washing up, ready for the midwife in the morning.
Night all.
The Boys Went Out!
While the boys went off exploring in Glossop, I had to stay home & have a bath, as I'm still not allowed out, absolute heaven! A good soak & peace & quiet.
I will be checking Andrews pockets for girls phone numbers later though, as he got chatted up in the bank, the chemist & the bakery. By all accounts quite a ladies man.
Midwife's second visit
Well now - even the professionals are impressed with the wee-un today. He's put on 2 ounces since being born which is unusual because most babies lose weight in the first week. This makes him a whopping 6lbs 8oz. Any heavier and he'll be growing a trunk!
Second night and all is well...
Andrew's second night at home was better than the first - much to daddy's relief. He filled 6 nappies but mummy and daddy got much better at taking turns so they both got a bit more sleep. In a few days Mummy will be expressing so she can sleep even more.
1st Midwife Visit
The midwife came (to the wrong house) on Sunday and seemed very happy with his progress. Said we shouldn't express yet, so more sleep for daddy - he-he! Flo (Lorraine) said we'd had a good night because we could finally share the changing and winding. Daddy says that was a good night?!!!!!?
